Swiss right-back Zachary Athekame, currently playing for BSC Young Boys, is reportedly on the radar of Italian Serie A club AC Milan.
At just 20 years of age, Athekame has already made a significant impact in the Swiss Super League, helping his team secure third place with 61 points and a spot in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers.
The young defender has played 30 matches this season, demonstrating his durability and commitment to the team. Despite not finding the back of the net, Athekame has contributed with two assists, showing his ability to create scoring opportunities from the right-back position.
In contrast, AC Milan finds themselves in 8th place in Serie A with 63 points. The addition of Athekame could provide a much-needed boost to their defensive line, given his performance in the Swiss Super League. With a market value of €5.00m, which is approximately 37 million DKK, Athekame is an affordable option for the Italian club.
The transfer window is currently open and will close at the end of August, providing ample time for AC Milan to secure the young Swiss talent. However, given Athekame’s contract with BSC Young Boys doesn’t expire until 2029, it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can agree on a transfer fee.
