Spanish left-back, Álex Moreno, aged 32, is reportedly on the verge of a possible transfer from his current club, Aston Villa, to Girona in Spain’s LaLiga.
Currently plying his trade in the English Premier League, Moreno has made 15 appearances this season, managing to provide a single assist despite not finding the back of the net himself.
Moreno’s current club, Aston Villa, is performing well in the Premier League, currently occupying 6th place with 66 points, which places them in a UEFA Europa League spot. Despite this, the Spanish defender, whose market value stands at around €7.00m (approximately 52m DKK), seems to be eyeing a return to his home country.
Standing at 179 cm and weighing 68 kg, Moreno’s physicality and experience could be a valuable asset for Girona, who will undoubtedly be looking to bolster their squad in the upcoming transfer window, which opens on January 1 and closes on January 31, and reopens on July 1 and closes on August 31.
As of today, August 22, 2025, no official statements have been made by either Aston Villa or Girona regarding the potential transfer. However, with Moreno’s contract with Aston Villa set to expire on June 30, 2026, the coming months could see some significant developments in this story.
