German forward, Timo Werner, currently plying his trade at Bundesliga club RB Leipzig, could be set for a move across the Atlantic to Major League Soccer side, New York Red Bulls.
The 29-year-old left winger has been a consistent performer for Leipzig, who are currently sitting in 7th place in the Bundesliga.
Werner, who is valued at around €7.00m, which is approximately 52 million Danish Kroner, has been instrumental in Leipzig’s campaign. His potential move to the MLS could be a significant boost for the New York Red Bulls. The MLS club would be acquiring a player with a wealth of experience in one of Europe’s top leagues, which could prove invaluable.
The transfer window is currently open, having opened on July 1, and will remain open until August 31, providing ample time for the clubs to negotiate and finalise a deal. It’s pertinent to mention here that RB Leipzig has a young talent, Arthur Denis Vermeeren, who could potentially fill the gap left by Werner. The 20-year-old Belgian has played 28 matches this season, providing 2 assists, and could be a future prospect for Leipzig.
